The destination was fun though - spending time with the beautiful Bella and her cheeky little brother Will. Peter cooked us a great steak on the barbie and little sis and I have been doing some bartering so I collected a very nice jacket to keep me cosy on the trip!
Day two saw us leave Bundeena and head south through the Royal National Park to Stanwell Tops and on through Wollongong until we reached the bottom of Macquarie Pass.
We think the last time we drove up there was on our honeymoon 19 years ago!!
Unfortunately it was difficult to really appreciate the scenery because it pured rain all the way.
It poured rain on to Marulan where we stopped for possibly the worst (and absolutely the slowest) pie and chips I've ever had.
It poured rain as we skirted past Goulburn...............
It poured rain past Lake George where Ray was hoping to finally see a body of water. There was water in it, and if you squinted really, really hard through the rain you could see it. Binoculars were helpful too! See below..........

It poured rain all the way to Cooma. The plan was to go to Jindabyne, but by Cooma we had had enough!!
Anyone who followed my UK blog in 2010 will know that there is a nursery rhyme, poem or song for every place on earth (In Narelle land anyway), so this day had me alternating between "The Man From Snowy River" (very predictable) and Dorothea MacKellar's "My Country". The latter because I was wishing that it would be a "sun burnt country" for a while - at least until my holiday is over!!
Below is the "Man from Snowy River" in the park at Cooma.
We visited the Snowy Hydro Visitors Centre and then went to the RSL club for a well earned drink and some dinner. Dinner was delicious! Oh for a chef like that at home........We spent the rest of our waking hours waiting for the knock on the door to tell us to evacuate due to flooding, but it never came.
Stay tuned for more damp tales.
